Overview :

Serves as a member of the Data Architecture and Business Intelligence team. Drives growth and support of the Operational Data Store (ODS), Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), and a growing portfolio of QlikView & Qlik Sense analytics applications. Lends support and guidance in use of database technology in non‑enterprise/departmental applications, including ability to reverse engineer unknown data structures, extrapolate business logic, and resolve problems.


Responsibilities :

·Understands complex business problems and develops logical and physical database models to support design of enterprise systems which support and facilitate the transfer of data from operational to analytical systems.

·Uses SQL Server Relational Database Engine and the T-SQL query language to create new database objects as needed, including Primarily Tables, Views, and Stored Procedures.

·Understands and leverages best-practice techniques to ensure proper provision for storage and performance requirements to ensure database systems remain highly available and efficient.

·Performs ad-hoc analysis using T-SQL query language within the database systems using a process oriented approach.

·Investigates existing database objects to identify and remediate performance issues.

·Performs exercise to migrate data points from legacy environment to the new SQL environment to streamline the process/ data.

·Understands the new trend in Business Intelligence/ Data analytics and participates in discussion with supervisor/ peers on critical thinking to take current BI platform to it.

·Understands the concept of Data lakes and experience with migrating legacy system to Data Lake.

·Uses additional cloud technologies (e.g. understands concept of Cloud services like Azure SQL server).

·Uses QlikView/Qlik Sense for Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes, as well as front-end design, to deliver enterprise level applications to facilitate business reporting.

·Develops mission critical business reports using SQL Server Reporting Services consisting of both the presentation (design) and data layers.

·Performs basic administration of SQL Server Reporting Services Report Manager ASP Web Page.

·Uses SQL Server Analysis Services to enhance existing, or develop new, OLAP cubes used in the EDW system.

·Uses Multi-Dimensional Expression (MDX) query language to extract data from OLAP cubes for reporting and analytical purposes.

·Participates in weekly 24/7 on-call rotation.


Qualifications :

·Working knowledge of business functional areas:

oDirect Order Processing.

oRetail POS Transactions and Store Traffic, including traditional KPIs.

oSales Planning and Forecasting.

oMerchandise Planning.

oStore Allocation.

oMaster Data (Product, Location, Vendor, etc.).

·Knowledge and capability in Database technology:

oSQL Server (2005/2008/2008R2/2012/ 2014).

oSQL Server Business Intelligence Suite (SSIS/SSAS/SSRS).

oOracle (9i/10g/11g) and PL/SQL.

oDatabase development using T-SQL; complex set-based query development for use in stored procedures and views.

oDatabase design; logical and physical models, normalized and dimensional models and data lakes

oDatabase support; investigating data anomalies, identifying offending records when referential integrity is violated.

oMS Azure cloud services

oExperience building cloud-native applications leveraging micro-services, containers and orchestration.

oExperience in enterprise data management including Master data management, data modeling, architecture, governance and security,

·Knowledge and capability in other technology:

oAnalytical tools like QlikView/Qlik Sense, Tableau or similar.

o.Net Framework, particularly C#.

oWindows Server.

oData science

·Professional and administrative skills:

oUnit, functional and user-acceptance testing.

oData validation.

oSoftware Development Life Cycle.

·Abstract thinking and creative problem-solving skills.

·Ability to persevere through ambiguity and work independently.

·Collaborative skills.

·Quality and detail oriented.

·Excellent written and verbal communication (Technical, Functional, Cross-functional).

·Ability to respond quickly and effectively to changing priorities while working in a varied, fast paced environment.

·On-call support will be expected.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

·Bachelor’s degree (CS, CSE, MIS, CE, Mathematics or other related field), or nearing the completion of a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience.

·2+ years of experience with OLTP and OLAP database system development. Exposure to .Net and QlikView/Qlik Sense preferred.
